Bob D’Amore

Bob D’Amore started his insurance career as an adjuster in 1968 at Public Service Mutual Insurance Co, moving to CNA Insurance as a multi-line adjuster in 1970 and to Unigard Insurance in 1975.  He was quickly promoted to District Claim Manager for Unigard, managing a large claim operation for the Northeast.  Unigard closed their east coast claim operation in 1980 and offered Bob a larger office in Tacoma, WA.  Wishing to be close to friends and family, he decided to remain in New York and became an independent general adjuster and property claim manager for Compass Adjusters in White Plains, NY, working for numerous insurance companies.  He left Compass to form his own public adjusting company in 1986 as a licensed Public Adjuster in NY and CT.   He enjoyed great success as an ethical and compassionate professional advocate for clients who have suffered major homeowner or business losses.  With over 49 years of experience, Bob personally supervised all aspects of the firm’s services until his death in 2017, maintaining a close relationship with each and every client.

An able educator and mentor, Bob trained many younger adjusters who have gone on to successful careers on their own or remained with the firm.  He was a certified course instructor for the NY Department of Financial Services, Insurance Division, as well as an approved course instructor in several other states, conducting classes for adjusters, agents and brokers.  Bob authored many articles on insurance matters and appeared in several television interviews concerning insurance consumer protection and dealing with insurance claims.  He was president of and served on the board of directors of the NY Public Adjusters Association for many years.

Besides public adjusting, Bob served as a consultant, an appraiser or umpire in insurance disputes and as an expert in building and contents damage for attorneys, often testifying in court cases on behalf of clients. He had recently been appointed as a Special Property Master in Federal court.
