About Us

Bob D’Amore started his insurance career as an adjuster in 1968 at Public Service Mutual Insurance Co, moving to CNA Insurance as a multi-line adjuster in 1970 and to Unigard Insurance in 1975. Bob was quickly promoted to District Claim Manager for Unigard, managing a large claim operation for the Northeast. Unigard closed their east coast claim operation in 1980 and offered Bob a larger office in Tacoma, WA, but wishing to remain close to friends and family, he decided to remain in New York and became an independent general adjuster and property claim manager for Compass Adjusters in White Plains, NY, working for numerous insurance companies. He left Compass to form his own public adjusting company in 1986 and has enjoyed great success as an ethical and compassionate professional advocate for clients who have suffered major homeowner or business losses. With almost 44 years of experience, Bob personally supervises all aspects of the firm’s services, maintaining a close relationship with each and every client.

Besides public adjusting, Bob serves as a consultant, an appraiser or umpire in insurance disputes and as an expert in building and contents damage for attorneys, often testifying in court cases on behalf of clients.

Bob has been an active member of the NY Public Adjusters Association and has served on their board of directors for many years. He currently serves as president of that organization which promotes professionalism, education and consumer protection laws.

An able educator and mentor, Bob has trained many younger adjusters who have gone on to successful careers on their own or remained with the firm. He is a certified course instructor for the NY State Insurance Department, conducting classes for adjusters, agents and brokers. He has authored many articles on insurance matters and has appeared in several television interviews concerning insurance consumer protection and dealing with insurance claims. He is available to fraternal and professional organizations as an interesting speaker regarding homeowner and business insurance at no cost.

Bob lives in upper Westchester with his dog, Simon, and enjoys writing, fishing, gardening and cooking.

Renato Noguiera was born in Brazil and came to New York as a child. He has been an inventory specialist at the firm for 3 years. He is a hardworking and energetic member of the team who has a knack for making a contents inventory of any size or nature more manageable. Renato respects the emotional attachment that clients have with their personal property and understands the trauma they suffer after a serious loss. That’s why clients so often say they find his warm and conscientious disposition to be such a comfort during a trying time. He represents the firm’s extraordinary mission to go above and beyond expert adjustment and to be there for a client throughout the whole loss recovery process in every sphere.

Renato lives in Mohegan Lake and enjoys spending time with his wife, Aileen, and relaxing with friends behind the grill or over a card table.

Matthew Malara grew up in Westchester, and after graduating from John Jay High School in Cross River, he went on to get his bachelor’s degree from Roanoke College. Now, a licensed public adjuster who has been with the firm since 2010, he brings a freshness to the team utilizing technology to produce contemporary looking files and emphasizing efficiency for a faster and smoother claims process. Matt enjoys being a professional in a field devoted to protecting consumers and gains satisfaction from helping New Yorkers recover from disaster. His client-based attitude has been crucial to the firm’s success in its primary mission to keep clients happy.

Matt lives in White Plains and enjoys studying philosophy and politics, spending time with friends and family, and throwing darts in his local league.

Sultaun Abdul’Shahid (Sully) is a U.S. Marine Desert Storm veteran who, after receiving his degree at of Southern Polytechnic State University, studied real estate and worked hard to offer consumer-friendly products and services while working for both real estate and insurance agencies. Sully later worked as a as a CAT storm adjuster where he became aware of the inadequate claim settlements that are frequently offered by insurance companies to insureds. He is now a licensed public adjuster who is empowered to fight for fair claims settlements on behalf of insureds. The firm is delighted to have added such an ambitious, ethical, and compassionate adjuster to the team.

Sully lives in Croton, enjoys learning about finance and business, league bowling, and motorcycle riding.
