About Us

Bob D’Amore started his insurance career as an adjuster in 1968 at Public Service Mutual Insurance Co, moving to CNA Insurance as a multi-line adjuster in 1970 and to Unigard Insurance in 1975. Bob was quickly promoted to District Claim Manager for Unigard, managing a large claim operation for the Northeast. Unigard closed their east coast claim operation in 1980 and offered Bob a larger office in Tacoma, WA, but wishing to remain close to friends and family, he decided to remain in New York and became an independent general adjuster and property claim manager for Compass Adjusters in White Plains, NY, working for numerous insurance companies. He left Compass to form his own public adjusting company in 1986 as a licensed Public Adjuster in NY and CT.   He has enjoyed great success as an ethical and compassionate professional advocate for clients who have suffered major homeowner or business losses. With over 47 years of experience, Bob personally supervises all aspects of the firm’s services, maintaining a close relationship with each and every client.

Besides public adjusting, Bob serves as a consultant, an appraiser or umpire in insurance disputes and as an expert in building and contents damage for attorneys, often testifying in court cases on behalf of clients. He was recently appointed as a Special Property Master in Federal court.

Bob has been an active member of the NY Public Adjusters Association and has served on their board of directors for many years. He currently serves as president of that organization which promotes professionalism, education and consumer protection laws.

An able educator and mentor, Bob has trained many younger adjusters who have gone on to successful careers on their own or remained with the firm. He is a certified course instructor for the NY Department of Financial Services, Insurance Division, as well as an approved course instructor in several other states, conducting classes for adjusters, agents and brokers. He has authored many articles on insurance matters and has appeared in several television interviews concerning insurance consumer protection and dealing with insurance claims. He is available to fraternal and professional organizations as an interesting speaker regarding homeowner and business insurance at no cost.

Bob lives in upper Westchester with his dog, Simon, and enjoys writing, fishing, gardening and cooking.

 

Dave Heckemeyer was a client of D’Amore Adjusters who was impressed with the public adjusting profession.  He joined the firm, originally served as an inventory specialist and now holds a full public adjusting license. He has been involved in damage mitigation, carpentry and structural damage determinations.  Dave also has experience in marketing and is a great organizer.  Due to the fact that Dave suffered a fire personally, it has helped him to have great empathy for our clients and he enjoys helping others.  He is currently living in Peekskill with his wife, Sandra.  He is an avid golfer, hiker and outdoorsman.

 

Robert Chiarello is a consummate professional and a well qualified adjuster who has extensive and varied experience in construction working on both residential and commercial buildings for many years. After experiencing Hurricane Sandy, Robert saw how many homes, businesses and lives were affected and began thinking of ways to help. He realized that becoming a Public Adjuster would be the best way to get involved and help people suffering from damages get back on track. He became licensed as a Public Adjuster and joined the New York Public Adjusters Association in 2014. He began working with D’Amore adjusters in 2015 and has since become a valuable asset to the company working from his Commack, Long Island office. Robert Currently lives in Commack and enjoys boating, football and camping.

 

OTHER PERSONNEL: We work closely with a variety of experts, such as building consultants, engineers, attorneys, inventory specialists and architects who are at the top of their professions and utilized on cases in accordance with a client’s need.
